Memorial Day Weekend…whoa was that a busy one!

May 31st, 2007

In lue of our traditional camping weekend this year, we decided to stick around the homestead for the most part and check off one of the bigger projects I’ve had on my “honey doo” list.  But before I was put to work at the house, Caryl and I took a day and headed down to Indianapolis on Friday for Miller Lite Carb Day at Indy.  It’s the last day of testing for the big race on Sunday and there was a short 100mile race for the “minor league” Indy racing folks.  We were worried about the weather on the way down as we drove in the 50 degree rain, but as we got closer to the speedway, the clouds parted and the sun came out and kicked up the temperature.

We had a great time watching them finish up practice.  It’s amazing how close to the action you can get, not to mention the history you’re surrounded by just by being there.

Some more pictures from the day are here

Back to work on Saturday though.  Dad and I worked a good chunk of Saturday and a few hours on Sunday putting down new flooring in the basement & stairs.  We’re very pleased with the results and Savannah loves going up and down the “new stairs” and walking on the “new floor”.

Here’s some more pictures of the rest of the flooring.  We’ll be adding a rug to the main area soon.  We love how the new paint and floor really makes the room feel more cozy.
