Uh.. less than 3 weeks to go.

April 29th, 2005

Looking at the calendar, yesterday Heather hit her 37th week. Technically the baby is considered full term now and she could go anyday. So I’ve been on egg shells waiting for that call or chirp from Heather saying it’s go time! A couple nights this week she’s been feeling changes down yonder and natually I get on edge waiting to spring into action. Everyone at Heather’s work is checking their Office Baby Pool entries to see how close they’ll be to matching Heather’s delivery.

On a sad note, last night Heather and I traded in my 2002 Grand Am. Tears were shed by all as we handed over the keys. It was sad to see the car go that had a lot of great memories associated with it. We met a lot of really amazing people because of that car (i.e. my website). But, with the baby due any day, and trying to put the car seat in and out of a coupe was a little difficult. Plus the value of the car was creeping further and further away from what we owed on the car. So we wanted to get rid of it before we took too much of a hit when it did come time to sell/trade it in. Not only that, we wanted to find something that had a lower payment and a full warranty. We decided to lease a 2005 Mazda 3 4 door. Pretty sporty for a sedan so I don’t feel like I’m giving up on my youth. There’s some pictures of it over in the Photos section. I won’t be going modification crazy on this one because it’s a lease, but I’ll have a few creature comforts from the GA installed in this one.

Well, I think this about wraps it up for today. I’ll post again soon. Hopefully with some pictures of a new arrival!!!

Holy crap, 5 weeks to go!

Man, what a long week. Last Sunday (4/10/05), Heather had her baby shower. It was a beautiful weekend, and there were tons of people there to celebrate. We were very excited to have Ryan and Kristy out for the party as well. Unfortunately I had to leave the party early to catch a flight to Orlando for a work conference. Ryan, my “fill in pappa” took pictures for me in my absence. Sunday night when I got into Orlando, I called Heather to find out how the rest of the party went. She said the house was fully of new baby stuff. I put in a request that she leave me a couple things to put together when I got home. I got home from Orlando late Thursday night and Heather gave me the grand tour of all the gifts and what she’s done since I was gone. She’s got the nesting bug big time. She has another doctor appointment on Monday (she’s now in the home stretch and will be going every Monday until Baby H pops out). I think Heather’s just about ready to have the baby get here. She’s getting more and more uncomfortable. She’s said that she feels her body is getting ready to have the kids. She’s feeling pressure ‘down yonder’ and she said that she’s feeling the baby dropping. Heather said that she feels her bladder is about the size of a shot glass. Thank god we don’t have many long car trips planned between now and when the baby is due. I’ll get some updated pictures of the nursery up tonight or tomorrow with all the new stuff in it.

Man, it’s hard to believe that in less than 5 weeks, I’m gonna be a daddy! I’m scared to death, and in the same breath, I’m very excited. I can wait to see my little son or daughter.
