I love my oatmeal!

July 20th, 2008

Since Trenton has started taking an interest in the foods we’re eating and he just rolled past the 6 month mark last week, we decided to start introducing some solid foods to his diet.  We opted to skip the nasty looking rice cereal and give single grain oatmeal a shot.  Our first two days were a huge success, he took to it like he’d been eating for months already.  I think now is when God puts odor into the poo poo!

In this corner…..

Weighing in at 16 pounds, 5 ounces and measuring 25 1/2″ long…..AT TWO MONTHS!!!!  Trenton, “The Rock” Horton!  Yeah, we’re just as floored as everyone else.  At Trenton’s 2 month checkup, he tipped the scale at over 16 pounds.  We’ll have to get a weight on him now that he’s just turned 3 months old.  I’m guessing an even 18 lbs!

That’s one big boy!  But he’ll always be my little man.

Savannah is doing great having a little brother around all the time now.  She’s super helpful with diaper changes and getting burp clothes, etc for her brother.  She loves to read to him and just be around him and play.  Trenton’s really started to pay attention to what’s going on and will follow you around the room with his eyes.

In the coming weeks, we’ll be heading out on our first 4 person camping trip.  That should be an experience.  But, if he’s anything like his sister, he’ll take to camping like a duck to water (I hope).

Speaking of camping season.  This year we picked up another couple to camp with us.  Mom and Dad picked up a new truck and a new travel trailer this year.  No more “swearing tent”, it’s high style for them now!

One month and continuing to tip the scales

February 24th, 2008

One month in to having two kids and so far we’re all still here! Sanity levels are within operating specs for the most part. Trenton is doing great so far. He’s very much like his sister (being mellow and laid back), but unlike Savannah, he’s sleeping like a champ! Which more importantly means that daddy is sleeping well too! Savannah didn’t like being swaddled and had a hard time putting herself back to sleep when she woke up. Trenton on the other hand loves being swaddled and is really good at falling back asleep.

At Trenton’s two week checkup, he tipped the scales at 11lbs 13oz! That’s a full pound gain in two weeks since he was born! He’s gonna be a big boy. It’s a few more weeks until his 6 week checkup and we’ll see what he comes in at. He’s nursing like a champ and Heather’s recovery overall was a complete 180 from Savannah.

Trenton Jeremy is here!

January 25th, 2008

So, after having nine months to get ready for his arrival, it seems like just yesterday we found out that we were expecting another child.  We had our mental check lists of things to get done before he arrived, and for the most part we had everything set.  It’s amazing all the little things you forget to get ready when you’re about to have an infant at home again.  The nice thing is he won’t hold it against us for missing something.

Anyway, the Wednesday before the “big day” was a hectic day at work for both of us, but the evening was great.  We had dinner and ice cream with some friends and enjoyed our last night of being parents to an only child.  We had to be at the hospital at 5:30 am on Thursday, and I think we finally went to bed just before midnight and set our alarms for 3:30am.  I slept pretty well, Heather slept pretty good as well..all things considered.  We rolled out around 5:10am after giving Savannah hugs I kisses.

Jump to 7:30am and they’re wheeling Heather into the OR and I was to join her shortly.  The delivery itself was pretty uneventful until the doctors were having a little bit of trouble getting him out.  We kept hearing how big his head was.  Couple tugs and a little use of the vacuum, and he was out!  All 10 pounds, 13 ounces and 22.5 inches of him!

Trenton Jeremy joined us at 7:56am and just like his big sister, he’s a very mellow baby.

Ok… you can come anytime now!

So we’re 7 days away from Heather’s scheduled C-section and I have a feeling that Heather wishes today was the 17th! Available space is growing smaller and smaller in there and therefore it’s making heather more and more uncomfortable. Right now we’re in the final stages of getting everything ready to go for junior’s arrival. The nursery’s set, the infant clothes are washed and sitting in a basket (we’ll get them put away eventually), we’ve got our phone/email list ready to go to spread the news, and thankfully, Savannah is still excited to see her baby brother.

Over new years we borrowed Connor’s Wii for a couple days and quickly realized that playing the sports games causes some pretty good contractions if you’re severely pregnant! So we now have our own Wii and have been playing it daily in hopes we can get things moving along. So far, no luck, but we’re getting some “exercise” while we try and kick each others butts playing tennis. Even Savannah has her own Mii and she likes to play the bowling game.

Anyway, I’ll wrap it up here for now, when things change, I’ll get an update posted ASAP! Wish us luck in the next week!

In the home stretch

November 13th, 2007

Dueling Bellies!

We’re starting to get into the home stretch now. The past few days the boy has been acting up and causing some Braxton Hicks contractions which has really put some added stress on Heather.

Savannah is getting more and more excited (so far) about having her baby brother here. Every night when she goes to bed, she gives mommy’s tummy a hug and kiss. We’ll see how long that lasts once he’s finally here.

Oh, and we’re 99% sure we’ve decided on a name…. and we’re STILL NOT SHARING! Ya’ll can wait!
